Treating Depression Naturally
Depression has different effects on different people. Some seem to look fine for a while and then move into a depressed state. Some have more chronic version of this condition.
Don’t let your fears hold you back. Treating depression can be fast and effective. And if done with right kind of therapy, depression can be gotten rid of for ever.
The first step towards overcoming depression is understanding it. What it is, how it works, and what it does. This is very important when it comes to any natural form of treatment. Not only depression, but any condition.
You can either go to a doctor and get drugs or try natural therapies. To try any natural remedy it is very important you understand the condition.
Depression has many symptoms. It is this wealth and broad scope of symptoms that confuses people and makes them wonder what depression actually is?
There is a new piece of research on treating depression naturally that not many people know about yet. It is a new approach to understanding and treating depression. When you know this approach, depression will loose its power to confuse you.
You will know what depression is, it has nothing to do with chemical imbalances as you may have guessed. Lot of people think depression is due to chemical imbalance, or genetic factors. This misunderstanding is also the reason why treatment drugs also miss the point and treat the symptoms instead of the causes.
Depression is often seemed to be made inevitable and the sufferes feel they will have it for ever. The truth is depression can be treated effectively. By treating depression naturally it can be kept away for ever.
Have you ever felt that for depressed people, the worst time of the day is in the morning. The research I am talking about shows you a new link between dreaming and depression. Understanding this link, your thinking styles or patterns and the cycle of depression is the way forward.
To beat depression one has to break the cycle of depression in as many places as possible. The cycle creates effects as if we are diseased. The cycle weakens our immune system and makes us more susceptible to disease.
The mistake people make is in assuming that drugs are long term solution for beating depression. With this assumption they become dependent on drugs and are never able to treat the root cause.
Have you ever heard the saying “You become like what you think”. To cure depression you need to learn the skills, habits and thought patterns of people who don’t get depressed.
The research I am talking about consists of a blend of psychological techniques from cognitive therapy, behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy and hypnosis. This therapy focuses on:
Behavioral therapy - What we do? Cognitive therapy - How we think about things? Interpersonal therapy - How we relate to others? Solution focused therapy - How things are going to be better in the future?
What seems to work best is the combination of the successful approaches mentioned above. Each therapy mentioned above contributes greatly to overcoming depression. A good therapist should use all these approaches in a skilful blend.

Could you also suggest some books on step-by-step instructions on how to help yourself or other people? I did get a e-book called “Depression - How? Why? When?” which speaks about the start and how to end it sucessfully given that the person suffering cooperates. Could use some further instructions.

I have suffered from depression, through my underactive thyroid, on and off now for over 12 years. I found the post interesting and easy to implement. I will be following these steps and let you know how it goes.

Definitely go natural if you can. I remember my wife got on some anti depressants, she was all messed up. I looked up the contraindications and they were pretty bad.
When she got off of them she was basically having to slowly ween because stopping them cold turkey actually put her in even worse condition. She had withdrawal symptoms like shaking, sweating and other not so good stuff.
I love how on commercials for the drugs they say well it does this but it might make you - have suicidal thoughts, anxiety, diarrhea, paralysis etc.etc. I hope people can do it naturally as much as possible. Diet and exercise can do wonders.

I have tried just about every drug in the book and i can vouch for what you are saying. for me something might work for a month or two and just quit working. This method works, its hard at first trying to stop all the negative thoughts you have about yourself. but in the end there are no side effects and i find myself a better person in the end.

I always thought a good strategy was to focus on staying positive throughout the day. Don’t let any negative thoughts creep in, in traffic or any other situations. After a couple weeks of this it becomes natural. It really is a choice for mild cases.

Drugs cannot alone cure depression. That must go along well with therapy/ an interaction between the patient and the professional doctor ( even those [people around). Thanks for sharing this post!
