Detoxification - The Sooner, The Better!
My food choices were favoring a Western style of eating — fast foods, soft drinks, instant juice drinks, foods filled with lots of saturated fat, salt and sugar. And smoking was a part of me too — I typically smoked two packs of menthol cigarettes each day. I noticed I was more inactive physically.
This is the lifestyle and eating habits I had that I thought was just plain normal since this is how most of the people are living their lives day in and day out. I had little idea that all the chemicals, preservatives, additives, and unhealthy fats I was consuming were shockingly very harmful and deadly for my health. Even the air I breathe is filled with harmful carbon monoxide from vehicles, pesticides, solvents and other heavy metals and chemical lingering in the atmosphere.
Our homes are not even a safe haven anymore. As we spray insecticides to ward off those pesky flies and cockroaches, spray more chemicals on our backyard grass, apply chlorine to our swimming pools, we are just making things worse. Whether we are inside or outside the house, there will always be a potential health hazard around us.
We usually don’t have time to realize that the everyday food we eat may just be lacking the nutrients our body needs. A few years back, when our grandparents were still our age, almost all of the foods they eat tend to be natural and free from processing and chemical intervention. We have abused the soil that catered to our crops, and used chemicals to get more yield, and these same chemicals gets in our bodies with the food we eat.
Knowing all these, well yes, we can say that we are now living in a very toxic environment, and most people don’t even realize this!
Fortunately there are methods available nowadays that can help us cleanse our bodies of many kinds of impurities. Some of them are described in the following paragraphs.
Colon cleansing is a very well-known detoxification method. This program can be employed the natural way by eating high-fiber foods and having some fiber supplements. Eating fruits and vegetables is a great way to fill your body up with the needed dosage of fiber. Just taking at least 1 cup of fruits like raspberries or blueberries can give you almost the same amount of fiber that 10 bran muffins has! When taking in more fiber, it is also important to give yourself plenty of water, as to give your body the hydration and nourishment it needs in order to eliminate toxins and waste matter from your body.
Dieting is also ever so important! Try looking for more foods that are naturally made or organic. We already have so much chemicals, processed foods and pollution to give us headaches, so let’s not add more to our problems. Just think about healthy alternatives and eat more natural foods that have not gone so much processing and preservation, just like how Mother Nature has designed things should always be — natural. And when you’re getting that sugar rush inside you, don’t grab a candy bar; get an apple or any piece of fruit instead.
Detoxification by fasting is still a good method for cleansing. After eating, your body spends a lot of time assimilating the food in the stomach and uses it to nourish our system. If you cease taking in solid foods and just stick to drinking fluids, then your body can have more time to focus on waste and toxin elimination. Fasting can usually last around 1 to 3 days or more upon approval by a certified health expert. Try seeking advice from a certified nutritionist to guide you with the right vitamins and natural supplements that are fit for your needs.
Detoxification can also be done by using spa footbaths or foot patches specially formulated for detoxification. Our bodies have an innate healing mechanism inside it, which it can usually deal with a good amount of impurities that our body has. But due to the added problems it gets from the food we eat and air we breathe, it has to work more, and sometimes to point of almost breaking down, which is why we need other modes of cleansing our bodies.
With the way the modern life is going nowadays, it is important that we consider cleansing our bodies of the impurities that we have been stacking inside it for a long time. Try getting into a particular detoxification program and you’ll notice a great change in you.
